NOVATO, CA — A teenager was arrested last week in connection with an armed robbery at a Novato gas station. Novato police responded to the armed robbery at 12:20 a.m. Friday at the Loop Gas Station at 2085 Novato Blvd. Police said a male suspect entered the gas station shortly after midnight, waved a large kitchen knife and demanded money from a store clerk. While the suspect was speaking to the clerk behind the counter, a second store clerk attempted to interrupt the robbery and an altercation followed, according to Novato police. The suspect broke free, took the cash from the register and fled the store. The clerk suffered minor injuries during the scuffle. Police received a surveillance image of the suspect Friday morning. A school resource officer recognized the 17-year-old boy and his clothing from a prior contact, police said. The teen was found and arrested outside his home at 10:55 a.m. Friday in northern Novato. Following a search warrant, police found evidence at the residence that linked the suspect to the robbery. The teen was booked into Marin County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
