Two Howard County High Schools host fundraisers for Grassroots

Grassroots, Howard County's only 24-7 crisis intervention center and shelter for the homeless, is the beneficiary of fundraisers at two local high schools. Talent Show Benefit Angel's Network, the community service club at River Hill High School, is holding its 25th Annual Talent Show in-person Thursday, March 31, from 6-9 p.m. It will feature acts ranging from Breakdance and Hawkapella to opera and other music performances. Cathy Smith, volunteer coordinator for Grassroots, will provide brief remarks. Tickets are $14 at the door. Proceeds from ticket sales and other contributions from attendees will be donated to Grassroots. Donate here. Run/Walk Light the Night 5k for Suicide Prevention is being held April 8, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at Oakland Mills High School. The event is supported by American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Maryland Chapter (AFSP), Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks, Bullseye Running, and the Howard County Department of Health. Funds raised will benefit both the Maryland Chapter of AFSP and Grassroots in support of their mission to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide. Register here.
