NORTHBROOK, IL — There is an end in sight for construction on Dundee Road in Northbrook, village staff announced. The Illinois Department of Transportation plans to begin paving next week and anticipates three more weeks of roadway reconstration.
The department expects its contractor to have Dundee Road open the week of Dec. 9, according to village staff. That's nearly eight months of closures from a project that had been anticipated to take six months and be complete by Halloween.
In the spring, contractors will finish reconstructing Lee Road between Shermer and Dundee roads. While there will be lane closures during that work, Dundee Road itself will remain open in both directions throughout.

The project to replace the existing road and culvert around Dundee and Lee roads led to closures starting in April between Skokie Boulevard and Waukegan Road.
Last month, the village announced IDOT had granted an extension to contractor Copenhaver Construction until Nov. 21, plus five working days.
The total price tag of the project was estimated at $6.5 million. The village covered a little more than 10 percent of that, picking up $680,000 of the cost
