Now is your chance to find out! Ages 10 and older can learn how tech items operate by breaking them open at the Library's Tech Take-Apart Workshop on Thursday, March 24 at 6 p.m. in the Jones Meeting Room. All the pieces we will disassemble and repurpose have been donated to the Library. Experts will be on hand to teach participants the safest ways to dismantle the pieces, explain how they work, and share ideas for repurposing them. Registration is required; call (423) 434-4458 to sign up. JCPL's School Age Program Coordinator Jennifer Johnson says that this event will be fun for people of all ages. With donations including computers, televisions, household appliances, and other small pieces, the available items vary in intricacy and difficulty. Jennifer explains, "Anyone who has an interest in the inner workings of tech pieces will enjoy this program. Participants will learn not only how the items operate, but also safety considerations and ways to breathe new life into old devices and appliances."
