NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt. ARRESTS DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED Desteny P. Mull, 24, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is accused of driving while license suspended, having a suspended registration, improper display, and was arrested at 11:07 p.m. Nov. 12 at Lake Cook Road and I-294. Her bond was set at $2,500, and she was assigned a court date of Dec. 30 in Skokie.Adam K. Stachura, 35, of the 4000 block of N Leclaire, Chicago, is accused of speeding, no insurance, no valid registration, transportation of open alcohol, suspended driver's license, and was arrested at 3 p.m. Nov. 16 at Waukeegan and Dundee roads. Bond was set at $2,500, and he was assigned a court date of Dec. 30. INCIDENTS DECEPTIVE PRACTICE A Rudolph Road resident reported at 2:32 p.m. Nov. 13 that they were called someone whom they believed to have been from Apple regarding their account. The complainant stated that they purchased a $200 Ebay gift card, and a $500 Target gift card and provided the information to the caller. IDENTITY THEFT Police made contact on Nov. 12 with 11 residents who reported that they received correspondence from the Illinois Department of Employment Security regarding their information being used for unemployment claims which they did not file.A Kay Jay Drive resident reported at 8:49 a.m. Nov. 15 that they received notification from the Illinois Department of Employment Services that their information was used to file for unemployment benefits. Police made contact on Nov. 18 with several residents stating that they received notification that their information was used to file for unemployment benefits from the Illinois Department of Employment Security. Complainants stated that they did not apply for the benefits. RETAIL THEFT An employee at Neiman-Marcus, 1400 block of Lake Cook Road, called police to report that between 12:48-12:58 p.m. Nov. 13 four females, believed to be in their 20s and wearing facemasks, entered the store and took several winter jackets from a display without paying for the items.An employee at Ulta Beauty, 900 block of Willow Road, reported that between 1:16-1:27 p.m. Nov. 13 a female, believed to be in her 20s and wearing a facemask, left the store without paying for merchandise.An employee at Bloomingdale's, 100 block of Skokie Boulevard, called police to report that between 1:30-1:35 p.m. Nov. 18 two females, believed to have been in their 20s, were observed using a cutting tool to remove two winter jackets from a display, then leaving the store without paying for the items.COUNTERFEITING An employee at Ulta, 900 block of Willow Road, called police at 7:44 p.m. Nov. 13 to report that a customer used a counterfeit $100 bill to make a purchase. RUSE RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY A resident in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road reported at 2:02 p.m. Nov. 14 five males came to their door claiming that they needed to check their electricity due to a fire which caused an electrical pole to fall. The complainant was persuaded to walk to their rear door and one of the males attempted to get the complainant to leave the residence, but they refused. Complainant stated that they walked through the residence with three of the males but did not know where the other two were. After the males left the residence, the complainant located several missing items. THEFT A person shopping at Whole Foods, 800 block of Willow Road, reported at 6:04 p.m. Nov. 14 that a female began asking about recommendations about food while a second female removed a wallet and case from a purse that was in their basket. Complainant learned that there was an attempted use of their credit cards at Target in Glenview.A person shopping at a store in the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard called police at 10:12 p.m. Nov. 18 to report that they had left a cart which included several personal belongings in a common area for a brief period of time. Complainant stated that when they returned to the common area, the cart and its belongings were missing. Security footage was checked and a person was seen removing the cart. The person observed removing the cart was located and the cart and items were returned to the complainant.BURGLARY TO VEHICLE A customer at Chipotle, 700 block of Skokie Boulevard, called police at 12:22 p.m. Nov. 16 to report that they left their vehicle unlocked for several minutes while they picked up an item. Complainant reported that when they returned to their vehicle, several items were missing from the front seat.A resident in the 1300 block of High Point Lane reported Nov. 17 that they went to their vehicle to retrieve a handgun from a backpack and discovered the gun missing. The complainant stated that they last used the gun at a sportsman's club on Nov. 5. The resident did not know when it was taken or where they were when it went missing.A person called police Nov. 19 to report that several landscaping trailers had been entered and various tools were taken in the 400 block of Anthony Trail. BATTERY A person told police on Nov. 15 at the station that they had a verbal dispute with someone they knew. After a brief argument, the dispute became physical with the other person grabbing the complainant by the neck. SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES An Oak Avenue resident reported at 5:48 p.m. Nov. 17 that they were conducting a potential retail transaction via text message. The complainant stated that the potential buyer inquired about using a cashier's check for the purchase. The resident believed that this was a scam and discontinued the conversation.
