NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt. INCIDENTS ATTEMPTED RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY A resident in the 3200 block of River Falls Drive reported at 2:27 p.m. Nov. 20 that they were approached by two males who came to their door asking to gain access to their residence to check on a utility issue. The complainant refused them entry and they left without incident. THEFT A person shopping at Home Goods, 800 block of Willow Road, reported at 2:35 p.m. Nov. 20 that their wallet was taken by a male while they were shopping. Complainant stated that they learned that a credit card was used at a store in Glenview.A person called police to report that between 8:30 a.m. and 5:22 p.m. Nov. 19 a Trek bicycle was taken from the bike rack on the west side of Northbrook Junior High School. SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES A resident in the 4100 block of Walters Avenue called police at 6:51 p.m. Nov. 20 to report that they received an alert from their doorbell video showing someone attempting to open the front door of their residence. Officers checked the residence and no criminal activity was observed.A resident in the 3100 block of Toulon Drive reported at 8:09 a.m. Nov. 21 that a male, dressed in black, came to their door claiming to be a representative of the village. The male claimed that they needed to take measurements of the complainant's yard. The male was denied entry to the residence and left without incident.A Berglund Place resident called police at 11:16 a.m. Nov. 23 to report that they received a credit card which was applied for by unknown persons.A resident in the 800 block of Pinto Lane reported at 1:08 p.m. Nov. 23 that they had a roofing inspection done by an independent contractor. When their insurance claims representative came to the residence to inspect the damage the complainant was informed that it appears as though damage was man-made, not from a weather related incident. RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY A resident in the 3400 block of Prestwick Lane reported that when they returned home, they observed damage to the front door and that entry was made to the residence between 2:30-6:45 p.m. Nov. 20. Officers discovered that several rooms had been rummaged through and disturbed. The resident reported several items were taken. HOME INVASION A resident in the 2500 block of Joshua Lane called police at 9:35 p.m. Nov. 20 to report that two males, dressed in black, were at their front door claiming that they had to check the complainant's pipes and plumbing. The resident stated that one of the two males pushed them to the floor and entered the residence. The resident stated that one male distracted them by looking at a sink while the second male wandered through the residence. The resident stated that money was taken from a purse, and they found various doors and drawers opened throughout the residence. RETAIL THEFT An employee of Verizon, 200 block of Skokie Boulevard, reported at 5:06 p.m. Nov. 21 that a male in their 20s entered the store and asked questions about opening a new account. Shortly after inquiring about the new account, the male departed the store with an employee's Apple iPhone 12. IDENTITY THEFT A number of residents reported on Nov. 23 that they received correspondence from the Illinois Department of Employment Security reference unknown persons using their information to file for unemployment benefits which they did not file for.
