ST. CHARLES, IL — As St. Charles continues to be the setting for an upcoming Netflix series being filmed in the city, the production has taken a toll on local traffic.
That will continue on Wednesday night, city officials announced on Wednesday.
St. Charles officials said that Route 64 between 5th and 3rd Street will be closed Wednesday night so that filming can continue.
The movie "The Killer", directed by David Fincher (Fight Club, Seven, Zodiac, etc.), is filming in downtown St. Charles. Due to inclement weather on both Thursday and Friday nights last week, additional nights of filming have been added for this week.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid downtown and use alternate routes and bridges to cross the river, officials said. Police Officers and members of the St. Charles Emergency Management Agency will be onsite to assist motorists around the detour each night.
All area restaurants and businesses will remain open and welcome patrons during the filming.
The following parking restrictions are in place:
All on-street parking on Main Street between the Main Street Bridge and 4th Avenue is prohibited through Thursday at 6 a.m. All on-street parking on Riverside Avenue between State Avenue and Walnut Avenue is prohibited through Thursday at 6 a.m. The City's south parking lot at the Municipal Center ("Checkerboard Lot") is closed through Thursday at 6 a.m. The City "Lot E," located at the southeast corner of Routes 64 and 31, is partially closed through Thursday at 6 a.m. The site of the former Police Department, City lot "P," as well as the 5th level of the west side parking deck is closed to parking through Friday for the duration of the film crew being present in St. Charles.
