Livermore Student Advances To State Spelling Bee

LIVERMORE, CA — A Livermore student advanced to the California State Spelling Bee Championship after placing second in the Junior High competition at the Alameda County Spelling Bee over the weekend at the Dublin High School Center for Performing Arts & Education. Sheehan Krishna, an eighth grader at Joe Michell TK-9, will join top spellers from around the state at the May 14 state championship in Stockton. Krishna was one of three Livermore students who placed in the top four: Isabela Jerosin Raja, a fifth grader at Emma C. Smith Elementary School, finished 3rd in the elementary competition, and Isaac Chilok Yee from Mendenhall Middle School finished 4th in the junior high school competition. The Alameda County Spelling Bee can be watched here. Below are the top four finishers in both competitions. The top two students in each category are headed to the state competition.
