HILLSBORO, OR — A 12-hour standoff with an armed person who refused to leave a home ended with the suicide of the hostage taker, according to Hillsboro Police. They send at 8:04 a.m. that the area is once again "open and the situation is clear." It had been just before 8 p.m. on Tuesday when officers arrived at an apartment at SE 45th Avenue and Tualatin Valley Highway. There he'd been a report of a suicide attempt. Police figured out that a man had entered an apartment saying that he wasn't going back to jail. The man refused to let the people in the apartment – with whom he has a relationship – leave. After about two hours of negotiations, the man let his hostages go but still refused to leave the apartment.
