ROSWELL, GA — Roswell City Council unanimously approved Monday a revised proposal that would allow Verizon to expand its data center on Turner Road with 14 conditions.
The data center would be connected to an existing facility in Alpharetta, 10325 Turner Road, according to council minutes. The site plan includes a 40-foot neighborhood compatibility buffer along the back of the property. On Dec. 13, 2021 the motion was deferred for 90 days to hold a neighborhood meeting and another planning commission hearing.
The Planning Commission recommended its approval for the rezoning and conditional use in February, but City Council added 14 conditions at its March 14 meeting. They include no chain link fence surrounding the southern side of the property and covering the roof with as many solar panels as they can fit. The conditions prohibit receiving deliveries between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m., shining lights onto residential properties and testing generators more than one hour and 15 minutes a week.
The next City Council meeting is slated for 7 p.m. March 28 at City Hall.
