Columbia Daily Spectator BY CAITLIN BUCKLEY AND SHANNON BINNS MARCH 12, 2022 The Columbia women's basketball team made history on Friday night. The Lions defeated Yale in a blowout fashion, defeating the Bulldogs 67-38. With the win in tow, Columbia has moved on to the Ivy League championship game for the first time in the program's history. Junior guard Jaida Patrick and sophomore guard Abbey Hsu led the charge, scoring 23 and 18 points, respectively. Columbia faces Princeton for a shot at its first-ever conference championship on Saturday night, March 12, at 5 p.m. 1st Half: Columbia opened to a roaring start, scoring 10 points before Yale got on the board. By the end of the first quarter, the Lions were up 22-5. Combined, Hsu and Patrick scored 24 points in the first half, and the Lions entered the locker room 39-15. Second Half: As the team's lead increased to over 30 points, head coach Megan Griffith opted to rest her starters for tomorrow's game. Their teammates continued their momentum, pushing the Lions to a 67-38 win. The Lions will face Princeton this Saturday, March 12. Columbia's only two conference losses this season occurred against Princeton. The undefeated Princeton team squeaked out a narrow win over No.4 Harvard earlier on Friday.
