Description
ASBURY PARK – Dangerous rip currents were reported at Asbury Park beaches this week, and people should stay out of the water.
The National Weather Service reported that life-threatening rip currents were likely for all people entering the surf zone.
Anyone visiting the beaches was encouraged to stay out of the surf. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
Indeed, multiple rescues were reported at nearby beaches on Monday. Read more: Multiple Swimmers Pulled From Ocean Co. Rip Currents: Officials
Entering the surf is discouraged. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current.
If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
