The sad fact is there are far too many wannabe's who fancy themselves musicians (as much of a joke that is for a lot of them) who are going to be willing to play gigs for gas money and a few beers, or even less. For the handful of real musicians out there this can and does pose one big problem. A lot of places don't care about the quality of the music the band is playing, only how cheap they can get them to play for. The real bands thus have to play for a lot less than they deserve or not play much at all. This just is the sad reality of it. If you're a real musician the only way to make any decent money is to have a good agent who get's the band real gigs and not bar gigs. This would be a professional agent and not one of your buddies. Those gigs are there but low end bar bands will never get gigs like that. So, either slum it with all the crap bands or start doing it right.
