St. Stephen Housing Association, a non-profit transitional housing program for families with children experiencing homelessness, has an immediate opening for an on-site Resident Maintenance Manager at our housing site in Auburn, WA. This position includes living on site and being responsible for the general upkeep of the complex and an additional housing site in Kent (about 15 minutes away). Hours of work are flexible and can be done in the evenings and weekends (approximately 20 hours per week). Job responsibilities include: repairing and maintaining the interior and exterior of 20 units of housing at our Auburn and Kent housing properties, while following desired standards for quality, cleanliness, safety and security. Other key duties include, but are not limited to: • Perform routine maintenance such as painting, pressure washing, carpet/floor cleaning, caulking, carpentry, drywall and general fix-it. • Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on plumbing, heating systems, fixtures, appliances and other items. • Install appliances and electrical fixtures. • Report major repair needs to the Landlord and work with contractors and volunteers. • Assist in move-out inspections and preparation of vacant units. • Respond to tenant maintenance emergencies and lock outs after hours if needed. • Perform physical inspection of the site each day, checking for excess garbage, graffiti or unsafe conditions. • Pick up furniture donations and make dump runs for garbage and unneeded items using company truck. • Additional duties as determined. Qualifications: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. • Must have at least 2 years of documented related general repair experience. • Must be flexible in hours and days worked. • Must have basic working knowledge of plumbing, painting, electrical and/or other general repair skills. • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance. • Must display very good organization and time management skills. • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse tenant community. • Must possess a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record and be insurable. • Must pass criminal background check. Some criminal history may be allowed. Compensation: Rent-free two-bedroom town-home, water/sewer/garbage/internet included. Fair market value is $1500/mo. Electric paid by tenant.
