For Immediate Release – October 6, 2020 Contact: Bruce Berke, NFIB State Director – 603-496-8092 PRESS RELEASE NFIB-NH ENDORSES REGINA BIRDSELL FOR RE-ELECTION TO STATE SENATE Concord, NH - - The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), today, endorsed State Senator Regina Birdsell for re-election to the NH State Senate, District 19. NFIB State Director for New Hampshire, Bruce Berke, announced the endorsement of Senator Birdsell for re-election stating that her commitment to work positively on small business issues is "demonstrated by her outstanding voting record, her years of service and her public statements showing she has the backs of small business owners in the state of New Hampshire." Berke continued, "Senator Birdsell is ingrained in the small business community in Senate District 19. The Senator understands the challenges of the small business person in NH and appreciates the highs and lows entrepreneurs experience on a daily basis." "Senator Birdsell has fought against mandates like a $15 minimum wage and a one-size fits all but costly mandatory leave policy that would be crippling to small business owners throughout the State of NH, especially during the current pandemic." "In short, Senator Birdsell recognizes that the business cost drivers debated in Concord every year have a real impact on small businesses and Main Street in Derry, Windham and Hampstead. Senator Birdsell understands the actual financial costs to business when the government steps in and tells a business how to operate. Increased labor costs through mandated wages or benefits reduce job opportunities for her constituents and stymie business growth." "And finally, Senator Regina Birdsell knows how devastating to our economy a state income or sales tax would be. Without these top down, state mandated taxes, NH has been able to create and maintain the NH Advantage, an advantage for workers seeking opportunity in State Senate District 19." Senator Regina Birdsell stated, "I am proud to receive NFIB's endorsement in the race for State Senate in District 19 because the small businesses and NFIB members are truly the backbone of New Hampshire's economy." Senator Birdsell continued, "Growing our state's economy and creating opportunities for good paying jobs will continue to be my top priority as state senator. Providing tax relief and reducing regulations will empower our small businesses to grow and create jobs for Granite Staters, especially for the communities in District 19." The NFIB's endorsement process is based on voting records, surveys and membership input that all focuses on issues that are critical to operating a business in NH. -30-
