WINDHAM, NH — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories. This submission comes from Jackey Bennett who nominated Heather Pacheco of Windham. Heather, Bennett said, "goes above and beyond for her preschoolers" at the Golden Brook School. "She's the ultimate advocate and case manager for children with IEP's and makes herself accessible to parents more than she should have to," Bennett said. "She seamlessly managed to shift to remote learning likely many Windham teachers in the Spring and stayed in contact and support throughout the school year." Heather worked hard all summer with her extended school year students and being a part of a team hiring another pre-K teacher — with barely a break all year. "She's a wonderful person who's students adore her and we are lucky to have her to trust with our littlest of students in Windham," she said. Thank you for all you do, Heather! >> Do YOU have a local hero you would like us to know about? Share their story here. << Read about other Local Heroes Across America here.
