Contact Nicole at [email protected] The Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber would like to invite you to this year's Scholarship Award Luncheon on May 13, 2022, from 11:30-1:30 pm. To date, the Hispanic Chamber has awarded over $2.8 million to over 1,052 Latino students in Oregon and SW Washington. These scholarships are matched by public and private colleges and universities including Oregon State University, Portland State University, University of Portland, Western Oregon University, Warner Pacific University, George Fox University, Lewis & Clark College, Linfield University, Warner Pacific University, Whitman College, Willamette University, Clackamas Community College, Mt. Hood Community College, Clark College. We will be accompanied by our keynote speaker, Representative Teresa Alonso León. A daughter of migrant farmworkers and an immigrant, Rep Teresa Alonso León became a natural leader and strong advocate for her family as they navigated a new chapter in Oregon. In 2016, she made history and became the first Indigenous Latina immigrant to serve as state Representative for Oregon House District 22, which includes the cities of Woodburn, Gervais, Brooks, and NE Salem. Rep. Alonso León currently serves as Chair of the House Education Committee and is a member of the Healthcare Committee, and the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Education. In addition to working in the State Legislature, Representative Alonso León serves as secretary of the Executive Committee of National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators (NHCSL), and is a member of the Legislative Advisory Committee for the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE).
