Unfinished Blues Band returns to The Roost after 32 years. The Unfinished Blues Band hits The Roost again after 32 years away. In the summer of 1989, three friends from Bonny Eagle High School entered a chem-free, Friday night "Battle of the Bands" at legendary Maine bottle club The Roost in Buxton. Unlike most high school bands at the time, they weren't into MTV pop music or gltzy hair metal. Instead, they were dedicated to American roots rock, soul and rhythm & blues. Rather than Bon Jovi, Madonna or Motley Crue, their heroes were Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis and Muddy Waters. After winning the first two rounds, the Unfinished Blues Band (then known as Unfinished Business) lost in the finals to a heavy metal band called Trooper. It stung. Later that year, all three members went their separate ways. Now, 32 years later, they're playing gigs together again and headed back to The Roost to play a concert supporting a brand new recording they made right on the venue's storied dance floor during a snowstorm in January. "It's not like we're trying to relive our glory days, since we didn't quite have any, back then," said bass player Troy R. Bennett. "It just feels like we're finally getting a chance to close a circle that been out there, open, for a really long time." In anticipation for the show, the Unfinished Blues Band recorded four brand new songs, plus two old favorites, at The Roost. Two of the songs, written by guitarist and singer Rob Babson, actually date back to band's beginnings. The other two originals were written last year by Bennett. "This makes me so happy," said drummer Dean Clegg. "I mean, I get to play drums with my old pals. I don't think it could get any better." This show is for all ages and there will be a cash bar. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the music starts at 7 p.m. Come dance, meet old friends and enjoy the historic Roost. Find out more about the Unfinished Blues Band at their WEBSITE.
