Walking/running any coastline at anytime from 12 am April 29 through May 1 at 3 pm to launch Mental Health Awareness Month May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Walks with Buddy, Alexander Jordan Jamieson Foundation, and Milford Prevention Council have joined forces for a weekend of socially-distanced events. COASTLINE CHALLENGE: From Friday, April 29th at 12 am to Sunday, May 1st at 3pm, you are invited to walk/run the CT coastline on your own, or with a team of <10. While you can walk/run any coastline, there will be fun signs posted along the Milford coastline routes, with QR codes and photo opportunities along the beautiful Milford coastline (the longest in the state). You can Walk/Run in any State or on any Coastline in Connecticut. Wherever you walk, track it on an app like Nike Run Club or Map My Run for a chance to win the Challenge! (Working on some fun prizes, stay tuned!) Saturday, April 30th will be a new addition! Coastline Challenge Poker Walk/Run! Audubon to Silver Sands Route- Visit the Participating Businesses along the coastline. Draw a Card from the Deck. Take a Photo of the Card at the Business. Collect the Best 5 Card Hand. Bring the hand to the Music Fest for Verification and Best hand wins the Grand Prize Basket! $10 for the ticket! MUSIC FEST FOR MENTAL HEALTH: Join us on Sunday, May 1st at Fowler Field, Milford for live music including: The Navels, Mystic Seahorse, and more. WalkAboutYoga, a Purple Pantry charity food drive, Tie Dye Station, Food Truck, informational tables, local vendors. All will adhere to social distancing and mask regulations. More info to come when restrictions are announced. The Music Fest for Mental Health is free to attend with a suggested donation of $10, which can be made here by clicking “Tickets” à “As an individual”, then entering the donation amount (with or without buying tickets to the Walk). The goal is to raise awareness for mental health, and how so many of us have become more anxious, depressed, and/or at risk for other mental health struggles. According to Mental Health America’s 2020 data, almost 1 in 10 youth have severe depression, and suicidal ideation among adults is increasing. We hope this event reminds you to treat yourself and others with kindness, patience and love.
