Mindset Clinic with 2-time Olympian Courtney Thompson In our session we will cover the mental skills of control, confidence, calm, and competing one play at a time. We will learn about how our brain is wired, and what we can do daily to condition our mind to help us rather than get in our way. Typically, our brain works against us in the moments we care about the most. By conditioning our mind the same way we train our body in the weight room and our skills on the court, we can learn to bring our best in every moment, no matter what challenges and adversity are present. This training is about unlocking the truest and greatest version of what lies in each and every one of us. Control: Our ability to focus on what is within our control and let go of what is outside of our control. To me this is the easiest skill to understand and one of the most challenging to live into. Confidence: We will cover the mechanics of training confidence day to day, and learn how to foster this individually and as a team in the face of adversity. Calm: We will talk through how we perceive the moment impacts if we can remain calm under pressure, or if the emotions of the moment overtake our ability to perform. We will talk through the skills we can train to help us regulate ourselves, and bring our best in any environment. Presence: Excellence happens in the present moment, in sports and in life. When we are locked in to RIGHT NOW, it is when our creativity, our joy, and our performance on the court are at its highest. This skill is about getting our mind repetitions at being present more often. So much of our experience on and off the court is dictated by our thoughts and how we perceive what is happening around us. It's always felt to me that the moments I cared about the most, whether on or off the court, were the moments that it felt most challenging to be me. We will talk through how to train our inner game so that we can foster the skills required to bring our best, no matter what is happening around us. These mental skills are great for competition, but more importantly will go far beyond these athletes careers. Thanks again, Courtney
