Guided Tour of the Museum's new costume exhibition, Making It Last: Sustainable Fashion in Victorian America.* As popular historical dramas such as Bridgerton and Dickinson have recently piqued public interest in period costumes, and Eco-fashion is currently a hot topic of discussion among consumers and professionals in the fashion industry, this exhibition will explore the recycling philosophy of the 19th century. It will also discuss Victorian-era clothing care and fashionable materials, drawing comparisons to today’s companies that support sustainability, while also highlighting some of the 19th century’s hazardous practices, including the use of chemicals and metals such as arsenic and mercury in the manufacturing of popular textiles, faux flowers, and statement hats. This Exhibit Tour also includes viewing the new juried exhibition, Fragments of Light, Impressions of Color, and the award-winning Servants' Quarters. *If you are interested in an extended house tour, which includes the 2nd floor bedroom suites and family room, please consider visiting us for a 90-min. House Tour.COVID-19 Rules and Measures The health and safety of our visitors, volunteers, and staff are our highest priority. Therefore, we continue to implement CDC guidelines and industry standards for best museum practices during the ongoing pandemic. All visitors will have to agree to the following rules and measures established for your visit before purchasing tickets to the Mansion: MASKS • All visitors will be required to wear masks, regardless of vaccination status. • If you have a medical condition that keeps you from wearing a mask, we ask you to please visit at a later date. • If you do not have a mask available, or your mask is deemed ineffective, the Museum will make a disposable mask available to you. TOURS & TICKETS • Please visit lockwoodmathewsmansion.com/programs for tour schedules and tickets. • Tickets are available for purchase in advance on the Museum's website: www.lockwoodmathewsmansion.com/programs. Walk-ins are welcome to purchase tickets at the door and subject to availability. Tour capacity is 15 people. We ask that you are ready 5 minutes prior to the start of your tour, as tours begin promptly at their designated times. Whether you've reserved a ticket ahead of time or are a walk-in, latecomers will not be guaranteed a spot on the tour. SANITIZING • The Museum will make hand sanitizer available at entrance points and common areas within the Mansion. • We are taking great precautions in cleaning common areas with EPA-approved cleaning products. • Rules will be posted on our website and along the tour for your safety.
