Description
Join us for another wine tasting with Master Sommelier Olivier Flosse featuring Oregon Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. Wht makes Oregon wine incredible? The state of Oregon in the United States has established an international reputation for its production of wine, ranking fourth in the country behind California, Washington, and New York. Oregon has several different growing regions within the state’s borders which are well-suited to the cultivation of grapes, yet the most predominant regions are the Willamette Valley, Southern Oregon, and Columbia Gorge. Our tasting will focus on Oregon’s specialty, Pinot Noir & Pinot Gris. Pinot Noir is considered by many to make the most sensual red wine in the world and Pinot Gris is the up-and-coming Oregon white that is immensely food compatile. We will feature four wines indicative of Oregon’s cool, marginal climate; which is a major factor in the elegance that characterizes these top wines. Enjoy this fun and educational event in the comfort of our private tasting room. Montinore Estate, Pinot Gris, Oregon, 2019, Organic The fresh and clean palate offers flavors of citrus, Granny Smith apple, green pear, and a slight grassiness. The acidity is lively and mouthwatering. A to Z, Oregon, Pinot Noir, Oregon, 2019, Organic Decent depth, varietal flavor, well-managed tannins—all present and accounted for here. There’s a mix of red and blue berries, and a wash of wet stone adding texture to the mouthfeel. The finish falls a bit short, but that’s what separates it from the pricier bottles. Elk Cove Vineyards, Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, 2020 A brambly nose of black currents, tart cherries, and violets is met with spicy cardamom and cinnamon. A core of juicy red cherry, cocoa nibs and leather on the palate is complemented by fine tannins evocative of dried leaves, pipe tobacco and anise.-Winery Cristom, Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, 2020 The 2020 Cristom Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is a fresh wine of precision and focus defined by crunchy acidity and bright red fruit.
