CONCORD, NH — New Hampshire State Police are investigating why a driver of an Eversource van veered off the side of an Interstate, crashed into a guardrail, and overturned in Concord Wednesday.
Around 1:45 p.m., state troopers were notified of a rollover crash just north of Exit 1 on Interstate 89 South in Concord. When they arrived, they found a 2011 Ford E-350 van, owned by Eversource Energy, on its side.
The initial investigation, according to Sgt. Maurice Sampson of Troop D, pointed to the driver, a 60-year-old man from Salem, "driving southbound when he drifted off the left side of the road, hit a guard rail and overturned." Sampson added, "At this point in the investigation, it appears that the operator fell asleep."
The driver was taken to Concord Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Troop D troopers were assisted at the scene by the Concord Police Department, Concord and Bow Fire-Rescue and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
At 4:30 p.m., Sampson said the highway was still partially closed.
Anyone with information pertaining to this incident is asked to contact Trooper Plourde, New Hampshire State Police-Troop D, at 603-271-3636.
