CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — A Montgomery County complex is the new temporary home of the USA field hockey team, local officials and league executives announced Monday.
The Women's National Team will be headquartered at the Proving Grounds, a large multi-sport complex in Conshohocken, through June 2021.
Though players have not yet returned to formally organized training yet since the pandemic hit, officials say they'll have the ability to use the Proving Grounds as soon as they do decide to return.
The decision to move to Conshohocken for the next several months was made after "much consideration," organizers said.
The complex features a five NCAA regulation artificial turf field hockey fields, and an International Hockey Federation global water-based turf field, where Villanova University plays.
There's also a 10,000 square foot indoor turf facility for competition.
Other sports played at the Proving Grounds include baseball, soccer, lacrosse, rugby, and football.
