Spreading Awareness about Black Maternal and Infant Health Inequities In honor of Black Maternal Health Week, C.A.A.R.E Productions presents Maternal Negligence, a beautifully written screenplay by junior journalism major, Autumn Martin, that creates awareness of the systemic and large-scale issues that Black women face in health settings due to implicit bias and anti-Black racism. The story is inspired by the life and legacy of Charles and Kira Dixon Johnson who tragically passed in 2016. The sizzle trailer of Maternal Negligence, will be screened for public viewing and subsequent discussion in person and on zoom on April 15th, 2022 at 4:00-5:00pm PST. The 10 Minute screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Dr. Akilah Wise (NATAL Stories Podcast), Dr. S. Ama Wray (Africana Institute for Creation Recognition and Elevation), and Dr. Candice Taylor Lucas (Pediatrics, UC Irvine School of Medicine).
