Pet Valu To Close Audubon Storefront, 357 Other Locations

AUDUBON, PA — Pennsylvania-based pet store Pet Valu recently announced its plans to shutter all 358 of its U.S. storefronts and warehouses, including an Audubon location on Egypt Road. The company revealed its decision to "wind down" operations in the United States on Nov. 4, citing "severe impact from COVID-19." "The Pet Valu U.S. team is proud to have met the needs of our devoted pet lover customers in the U.S. for more than 25 years. However, the Company's stores have been significantly impacted by the protracted COVID-19-related restrictions," said Jamie Gould, Chief Restructuring Officer of Pet Valu Inc in a statement. "After a thorough review of all available alternatives, we made the difficult but necessary decision to commence this orderly wind down." Online sales have ended as of November, but stores are scheduled to host closing sales "in the coming days." U.S. customers will still be able to use Pet Valu gift cards and loyalty rewards for purchases through Dec. 13. Montgomery County locations include: Forty Foot Road, Hatfield764 PA 113, Souderton49 E. City Ave, Bala Cynwyd1107 N Bethlehem Pike, Lower Gwynedd301 W Skippack Pike, Blue Bell1570 Egypt Rd, Phoenixville (Upper Providence)2660 Egypt Rd, Norristown (Audubon)1832 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown30 E Ridge Pike, Conshohocken1650 Limekiln Pike Ste 26, Dresher The brand's Wayne headquarters and warehouse in Chester County will shut down as well. Pet Valu joins a growing list of retailers to shutter stores amid the coronavirus pandemic, including Brooks Brothers, J.Crew, J.C. Penney, PINK, Neiman Marcus and Sur La Table.
