SUDBURY, MA — Sudbury police helped rescue a woman experiencing a crisis from a town waterway on Monday afternoon, according to the department. Police went to the shopping plaza at 387 Boston Post Road just after 5 p.m. Monday for a well-being check. They discovered a woman at the scene experiencing "an urgent mental health crisis," police said in a social media post. Police pulled the woman out of the water — Hop Brook runs behind the plaza at 387 Boston Post Road — and Sudbury firefighters took her to a local hospital for treatment, police said. Police posted an update about the incident just after 9 p.m. Monday due to speculation about what happened. "We normally don't comment on this type of incident, but because of an enormous amount of misinformation circulating within local social media platforms, we found it necessary. The posts have speculated on an identity of the patient, it is incorrect," police said.
