CLEARWATER, FL — A 20-year-old Dade City man faces charges of animal cruelty after Clearwater police said he kicked a 3-month-old puppy in the head, dragged it by its leash and threw it over a wall. Police said a number of witnesses reported Noah Counts' cruelty toward the puppy at Clearwater Beach Monday. Counts told an officer he was upset because the puppy was eating food that it should not have taken, a report said. Officers also found Counts in possession of a charcoal grill at the beach along with two open containers of alcohol, all of which violate city ordinances, authorities said. He was arrested and booked into the Pinellas County Jail, according to police.
