NEWTOWN, CT — A 19-year-old Sandy Hook man suffered a fractured leg Saturday when his SUV collided with a town plow truck on Hanover Road in Newtown, according to police and fire officials.
No other injuries were reported in the 8:25 p.m. crash, but firefighters had to remove a door of the 2000 Toyota 4Runner to remove the injured driver, fire officials said. He was taken to Danbury Hospital for treatment.
"Vehicle #2 [the plow truck] was traveling south on Hanover Road while plowing its southbound travel lane," Newtown police wrote in a description of the crash. "Vehicle #1 [the SUV] was traveling north on Hanover Road, too fast for conditions, while negotiating a curve to the left. Vehicle #1 lost control and slid into the southbound travel lane striking Vehicle #2's plow with its right front bumper. Vehicle #1 then rotated into Vehicle #2's plow with its right side."
The driver of the Toyota was issued an infraction for driving too fast for conditions.
