MERIDEN, CT — A Meriden man has been charged with sexual assault, according to a police statement. Gavin Gratta, 39, has been charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and impairing the morals of children. Police said the Special Crimes Unit investigated a sexual crime complaint that alleged that Gratta had sent inappropriate text messages to a 12-year-old child for a five-month period. This led to an incident in which Gratta inappropriately touched the child, according to police. Gratta was arrested and released on $10,000 bond.
