MCLEAN, VA — A driver died Sunday after a three-vehicle crash last Wednesday on Georgetown Pike in McLean, according to Fairfax County police. The crash happened around 3 p.m. in the 8800 block of Georgetown Pike. Police say an Audi A5 heading west on Georgetown Pike lost control of the car and hit an eastbound Nissan Sentra head-on. The Audi then spun in the path of an eastbound Toyota MR5, causing the Toyota to rear-end the Audi. The Nissan driver, Karla Boggess, 62, of Berryville, was taken to the hospital and died of injuries four days after the crash. The Audi driver was treated for injuries on the scene. The Toyota driver went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. This was the first non-pedestrian crash fatality in Fairfax County this year. Detectives are investigating the crash to determine if speed or alcohol were factors. Results of the investigation will be presented to the Commonwealth's Attorney to review. Anyone with information about the crash can contact the police department's Crash Reconstruction Unit at 703-280-0543.
