Description
ARLINGTON, MA — A fire in East Arlington last month was caused by improper disposal of marijuana, according to a report cited by Patch partner YourArlington.
The report found that a spark remained after a resident of the first floor tried putting out the smoking materials on a piece of cardboard or plastic, resulting in the Feb. 20 fire on White Street.
The Arlington Fire Department estimated the damage at $600,000, YourArlington reported.
The fire displaced residents of both floors of the two-family home. GoFundMe campaigns have raised more than $55,000 for the family on the second floor and more than $8,000 for residents of the first floor, who are college students or recent graduates.
