Press release from the Chamber Collaborative of Greater Portsmouth: December 7, 2020 The Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is proud to present a FREE virtual community lecture titled The Cold-Weather Athlete: Avoid Winter Injuries and Keep Playing on Wednesday, Dec. 16 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event will be held through the Zoom platform. Attendees will learn about how to avoid common injuries associated with winter sports from women's sports medicine specialist, Dr. Jennifer Hopp, who leads the Women's Sports Medicine Program at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. She will be joined by board-certified clinical specialist in sports physical therapy, Jacqueline Plante, PT, DPT, SCS, of Wentworth-Douglass Hospital's Rehabilitation Services. Whether a winter runner, skier, snowboarder, winter hiker, or snowshoe enthusiast, winter athletes of all levels and abilities are welcome to attend this virtual event. Wentworth-Douglass Hospital's Women's Sports Medicine Program is focused on the unique musculoskeletal needs of women and girls of all ages and athletic abilities. Dr. Hopp is experienced in caring for athletes on the sideline, concussion management, joint injections, ultrasound guided injections, platelet-rich plasma injections, casting/splinting, nutrition guidance, as well as general musculoskeletal injuries.
