NORRISTOWN, PA — The new coronavirus mitigation measures have led Montgomery County to shut down buildings at its public historic sites through the New Year. While buildings are closed, outdoor areas and county-run public parks will remain open. The closures went into effect on Dec. 12 and are set to be lifted on Jan. 4, 2021. "We have been experiencing an unprecedented surge in cases since (Thanksgiving)," Montgomery County Commissioner Val Arkoosh said last week, pressing the importance of getting the spread of the virus under control. "Hospitals have no additional staff to open additional beds." County historic sites include Pennypacker Mills in Schwenksville, Pottsgrove Manor in Pottsown, Peter Wentz Farmstead in Worcester, and Mill Grove Historic Site in Audubon. Virtual tours and remote access to materials remain available.
