PARAMUS, NJ — Paramus Police arrested two men from out of state after a traffic stop last Thursday on weapons charges, according to a news release. A Paramus officer stopped a driver for swerving around 1:30 a.m. on March 10. The driver was traveling on Route 17 South from Linwood Avenue, Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said. The officer noticed the car had "extremely over-tinted windows," Ehrenberg said. This officer and two others approached the car. The two men inside gave police permission to search it. Neither occupant had a driver's license, the news release said. Police found a dissembled Glock 9mm handgun without a serial number. They also found 36 hollow-point bullets, and a 15-round magazine. Officers arrested Jorge Torres Maldonado, 21, of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Jeremis Salazar Rivera, 19, of Reading, Pa., according to the news release. Both men face four charges: possession of handgun for unlawful purpose, possession of firearm without serial number, possession of hollow point bullets, and possession of large capacity magazine.
