Press release from the Chamber Collaborative of Greater Portsmouth: December 14, 2020 OGUNQUIT, MAINE—Although its galleries are closed for the season, the Ogunquit Museum of American Art (OMAA) is now open virtually 24/7. This week, the museum debuted a searchable database that makes a selected portion of its collections available to anyone with online access. The database is accessible at www.ogunquitmuseum.org/exhibitions-collections/collections/. Users can search images at random, by keyword, or phrase; instructions are on the database home page. About OMAA Opened in 1953, OMAA was founded by Lost Generation artist Henry Strater. Closely tied to one of the earliest colonies of the American modernist art movement, OMAA today houses a permanent collection of more than 3,000 paintings, sculpture, drawings, prints, photographs, and film from the late 1800s to the present. The museum showcases seasonal exhibitions of modern and contemporary art as well as public programs from May through October. OMAA's coastal landscape—a three-acre sculpture park containing 18 small gardens—complements its exhibitions and overlooks Narrow Cove and the Atlantic Ocean? The museum is open May 1 through Oct. 31. More information at www.ogunquitmuseum.org. This press release was produced by the Chamber Collaborative of Greater Portsmouth.
