BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — High school students in Bergen County are invited to submit entries for a video project centered on racial, cultural, and ethnic identity. The Community Chest of Eastern Bergen County is producing a video as part of its Racial Justice Liberty Project, a news release said. The theme for the project is "A Gallery of Stories of Your Racial/Cultural Discovery." Videos should be one to two minutes long, and express students' reflections of how they came to understand their own racial, cultural, or ethnic identity. Some possible art forms are short films, poetry, photographs of a print/digital image, and original music pieces. Individuals or groups of students may submit their pieces. Submissions are due March 31 to Shelly Wimpfheimer, [email protected]. The project's goal is "to reach a wide audience to promote understanding of the range of personal encounters young people experience during their lives and the impact of these encounters on the teens themselves." Click here for more details and project guidelines. Final selections will be made by April 30. Participating in the project can be considered a form of community service, a news release said.
