A Limited National Dog Show Will Be Held In Montco This Fall

OAKS, PA — The National Dog Show, an annual Thanksgiving-time tradition in Montgomery County, will once again be held this year amid the coronavirus pandemic, organizers announced this week. But registration is limited and no in-person spectators are permitted, meaning that it won't be quite the boon to the local economy that it is a normal year. The show is scheduled at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks on Nov. 14 and Nov. 15. Numerous health guidelines are in place and organizers with the show are working with local and regional officials to ensure compliance. The event typically brings around 2,000 champion canines from across the country to Montgomery County. This year event registration is limited to about 600 dogs, a decrease of 70 percent from past years. Four groups will be judged on Saturday, with another three, and the Best in Show final, taking place on Sunday. The show will be broadcast on Thanksgiving Day from noon to 2 p.m. on NBC, following the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. The Kennel Club of Philadelphia, in operation since 1879, is once again organizing the event.
