Description

NORRISTOWN, PA — Many Norristown residents are without running water Monday morning after a water main broke. The incident occurred at Main and Markley streets. The west end of Norristown has no running water, and authorities say that there is "little to no" water pressure elsewhere. A total of 33,500 customers are impacted, authorities said. Crews from American Water are on the scene working on the issue. A boil water advisory was issued for all residents who use the Norristown water system, which includes Norristown and Bridgeport, as well as portions of West Norriton, East Norriton, Upper Merion, Plymouth, Lower Providence, Whitemarsh, and Perkiomen Township. A map of the impacted area is available here. It's not yet clear what caused the break. The intersection is closed to traffic, and motorists are being detoured. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
