Description
PENNSYLVANIA — Former Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane has run afoul of the law again, as she was arrested for driving under the influence after a crash in Scranton, police said.
The 55-year-old, who had previously been jailed for perjury in 2018, was taken into custody, charged, and later released after the incident.
Police said the incident happened at around 6:30 p.m. Saturday evening, near Moosic Street and Meadow Avenue in Scranton.
Further details surrounding the incident were not immediately made available, but no injuries were reported.
Kane was once considered a rising star in the Democratic Party before leaking information about a grand jury probe in an attempt to embarrass a rival, leading to a lengthy and highly publicized controversy.
She was sentenced in 2016, and arrived in Montgomery County Correctional Facility in 2018 after multiple appeals were rejected. She spent less than a year in prison and was released in 2019.
