Noonan Academy Advances to State Science Fair

Noonan Elementary Academy is an independent Catholic school in Mokena serving preschool through 8th grade. Noonan sent eight science fair students to the IJAS Region 11 Science Fair held at the University of St. Francis on March 11, 2022. These 7th and 8th grade students advanced to the regional competition after competing against their peers on January 26th & 27th. At the regional level there are four levels of achievement: participation, bronze, silver, and gold, with gold being the highest. Each project is judges against a rubric and awarded accordingly. The following student took home Silver at the fair: Ishaan Patel (8th grade). The following students took home Gold at the fair: Annie Villasenor (8th grade), Aidan Villasenor (8th grade), Michael Yep (8th grade), Claire Horner (8th grade), Riyaa Jain (8th grade), Maya Krutul (7th grade), and Melanie Hague (7th grade). Annie Villasenor took home the Best in Category Award for Consumer Science. The following Noonan Academy students will go on to compete at the Illinois State Science Fair competition at The Peoria Civic Center in Peoria on April 23, 2022: Annie Villasenor (8th grade), Aidan Villasenor (8th grade), Michael Yep (8th grade), Claire Horner (8th grade), Riyaa Jain (8th grade), Maya Krutul (7th grade), and Melanie Hague (7th grade).
