Fire Guts Multi-Family Building In Glenview

GLENVIEW, IL — A Tuesday afternoon fire caused an estimated $250,000 in structural damage and $75,000 in loss of contents at a multi-family building. The Glenview Fire Department said no one was injured. All occupants were able to exit safely due to working smoke detectors. Firefighters were called to the building in the 4300 block of West Lake Avenue at around 11:53 a.m. On arrival, companies were met with smoke conditions in the hallway. The active fire was found within the walls and other void spaces of the structure. Responding crews initiated an interior fire attack with hose-line deployments to multiple floors for extinguishment. The fire was reported under control at 12:29 p.m. and extinguished at 12:37 p.m. Glenview received assistance from Niles, North Maine, Northbrook, Northfield, Morton Grove and Prospect Heights Fire Departments, along with the Cook County Sheriff's Police, Cook County Building Department and Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office. Glenview fire officials said the cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Glenview department's Origin and Cause Investigative Team.
