NAPERVILLE, IL — The final phase of repairs and upgrades to the Naperville Metra station is expected to start Monday. The upgrades, which include replacing the station's north and south doors, are set to be completed by Jan. 28, if weather permits. Construction will take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the majority of the work being done during midday hours to minimize the impact on commuters. Officials say work vehicles may be present for 5 to 10 minutes to drop off materials during the morning and afternoon rush times. The doors will be replaced one at a time to ensure that commuters can access three of the four station doors at any given time. Temporary barricades may be in place at times, but signage will be used to help commuters navigate the changes throughout the construction. The door replacements are part of the final phase of station repairs. Repairs, which started in Oct. 2019, included replacing sidewalks to help " improve the function of the station and enhance safety for train station users," city officials said in a press release.
