BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Two of the six key coronavirus metrics tracked by the Pennsylvania Department of Health on the county level decreased in Bucks County over the past week. Two metrics stayed flat and two others increased slightly. The metrics, pulled together in the state's Early Warning Monitoring System Dashboard, paint a comprehensive picture of the impact and status of the virus in the community and the healthcare system at large. While two of the six metrics tracked trended upwards over the past week, the overall metrics remain stable and case counts continue to decrease. The county's percent positivity rate on all tests stayed flat at 2.6 percent — a number that remains well below the threshold for what's considered "concerning" at five percent. The overall number of cases decreased, going from 188 new cases in the previous seven days to 162 in the most recent seven days. The incidence rate per 100,000 residents in Bucks County this week stands at 25.8 this week, down from 29.9 the week prior. Two hospital-related metrics increased slightly: the average daily number of patients placed on ventilators in the county rose from 0 to 0.1, and the average daily COVID-19 specific hospitalizations rose from 1.6 to 4.9. A sixth metric tracked by the state, the percent of emergency department visits due to COVID-like illnesses, stayed flat at 0.4 percent. The statewide percent positivity rating sits at 3.2 percent, as of Monday afternoon. Bucks County now has had 7,348 residents test positive for COVID-19 during the pandemic. A total of 519 deaths have been attributed to the virus, including 411 long-term care residents. See the state's Early Warning Monitoring System Dashboard and related data here.
