NAPERVILLE, IL — A man and woman, both 19, are hospitalized with potentially life-threatening injuries after they were hurt in a serious crash near the intersection of Washington Street and 12th Avenue in Naperville. Police say just before 7:30 p.m. a Honda Accord driven by a 51-year-old Naperville man was heading west on 12th Avenue when it ran a stop sign and hit a Ford Focus that was heading northbound driven by a 24-year-old man from Lisle. The crash caused the Ford Focus to lose control and hit a utility pole, police say. Both 19-year-old passengers from the Ford Focus were taken to a nearby hospital. Members of the Naperville Traffic Unit conducted an investigation into the crash that left the intersection closed to traffic until after 11:30 p.m. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and police say the Accord driver was cited for running a stop sign. Anyone with information is urged to call the Naperville Police Department Traffic Unit at 630-420-8833.
