CALABASAS, CA — The city of Calabasas on Monday began a six month sidewalk renovation project in Old Town Calabasas. The renovations will update the sidewalk on Calabasas Road between Park Granada and the state Route 101, Ventura Freeway, southbound entrance. Construction will take around six months but will be completed in phases, contained to weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Businesses in Old Town will remain open and accessible throughout the construction period, according to the city. Traffic disruptions will be minimal. On-street parking will be affected throughout construction. The sidewalk facelift will include new LED streetlights, sign posts, benches, fencing, trees, planters, trash bins and more, according to the city of Calabasas. Additionally, crosswalks will be redone with in-pavement lighting. The existing sidewalk material has been in place for nearly 30 years and is nearing the end of its life span, according to the city. "The existing sidewalk material has reached the end of its useful life and now requires continual maintenance and repair," the city said on its website. "These improvements to Old Town will preserve and enhance the "Old West" look and feel while providing pedestrian improvements." Visit the city's website to stay up to date on the sidewalk construction.
