NEWTOWN, PA — The Starbucks store on South Eagle Road in Newtown has been closed since Sunday after an employee tested positive for coronavirus. The coffee shop located in the Village at Newtown shopping center will remain closed for the rest of the week due to staffing limitations, a company official told Patch. "We recently learned that an employee at the store received a positive diagnosis for COVID-19, and along with those determined to have been in close contact with them, has been self-isolating at home," company spokesperson Jory Mendes said in an email. "As soon as we learned of the diagnosis, we quickly activated our protocols and closed the store to initiate a deep cleaning following all recommended guidelines from public health authorities." The store, which is listed as temporarily closed on Google, is scheduled to reopen on Sunday, Nov. 15, with modified hours and operations (drive-thru only) from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will be staffed with partners who were not in close contact with the employee who tested positive, Mendes said.
