NEWTOWN, PA — The Bucks County Department of Health recorded violations at six bars and restaurants in Newtown from Dec. 1 through Dec. 15. Here's what health inspectors found: Dragon of Newtown, 4 violations: Observed raw food stored on floor upon arrival and above cooked and ready to eat foods throughout refrigeration unit; mechanical dishwasher not reaching required sanitization levels; observed food thawing on prep table upon arrival — food must be thawed in the refrigeration unit or under running water; prep unit doors are sticky; catch drains for three-compartment sink, dish pit and mechanical dish machine are filled with food debris; interior of upright freezers are unclean Marco's Pizza, 10 violations: No food safety manager on duty; kitchen employees not wearing masks or improperly wearing masks; front hand wash sink not providing any water; employee cellphone was resting on food prep cutting board; raw meat stored over ready to eat foods; grill prep unit at unsafe temperatures for cold holding; chicken in grill prep reach-in was at unsafe temperature; observed a knife stored between prep units; observed single use articles being used as scoopers in bulk containers — portions cups are not approved to be used as scoopers; cardboard boxes being repurposed for storage throughout the food prep area and refrigeration units, which is not approved; tiles in kitchen along cookline are cracked or damaged; ice built up in walk-in freezer under the shelves McCaffrey's Market - Newtown, 1 violation: Cafe did not have the correct sanitizer test strips Meglio Wood Fired Pizzeria, 3 violations: Observed an employee handle a cheesesteak with bare hands - employees must be wearing gloves when they are handling ready to eat food; observed a knife stored on a shelf in between items; observed single service portion cups stored inside bulk spice containers The Temperance House, 1 violations: Observed a bowl stored inside a bulk food container Yummi Sushi, 1 violation: Observed seafood thawing in standing water. Food must be thawed under running water or in the walk-in cooler
