Here are the top three stories in Phoenix today: Two male suspects, believed to have been involved in the ambush of two Phoenix officers, were arrested on Sunday. The attack on the officers happened when they spotted a car they had previously attempted to pull over. A barrage of bullets struck the patrol car leaving one officer shot and another injured. Devonte Thornton, 28, and Javon Beasley, 18, were taken into custody.(Phoenix Patch)Speed and alcohol are reported to be the reason for a deadly car crash late Sunday that left a 16-year old dead and three others injured, police said on Monday. A Ford Mustang traveling at a high rate of speed collided with a Honda Accord that was attempting to turn left on 36th Street, according to Sgt. Ann Justus. The 50-year old driver of the Honda Accord may have been under the influence. (Phoenix Patch) Republican State Representative Joanne Osborne has sponsored House Bill 2082, restricting marijuana advertisements near schools or churches and banning images that appeal to kids. The goal of the bill, advocates say, is to protect kids. The bill also prohibits cannabis sales to "obviously intoxicated" people and free in-store samples.
