ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — As the war rages on, Catholic Health is donating medical supplies to Ukraine. The hospital network is giving more than $300,000 in supplies and pharmaceuticals to the U.S. Ukraine Foundation. Along with the Catholic Health donation, the Most Reverend Bishop John O. Barres has authorized a voluntary special collection across Long Island at the parishes. Catholic Health suggests those wanting to join that charity effort should mail donations directly to the Diocese of Rockville Centre with the memo line: Ukraine collection. Funds collected will be sent to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, who provide food and shelter to the most impacted Ukrainians. "Always guided by our Catholic Health mission and core values, we walk in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and pray for a swift and peaceful resolution to this violent and unwarranted incursion," Catholic Health President and CEO Patrick O'Shaughnessy said in a statement. "We are particularly mindful of our patients and their loved ones as well as our colleagues of Ukrainian descent, offering our prayers and sympathies." The Catholic Health humanitarian effort is in collaboration with other providers of the Greater New York Hospital Association.
